Jobsite of the future

JOBSITE OF THE FUTURE

Imagine landing the contract to maintain the grounds of a retirement village or hospital. In the past you’d have faced major issues with noise, vibration and emissions levels in a very sensitive worksite. But now new technology offers tools which can match the performance of petrol-driven equipment without relying on a loud, fuming, internal-combustion engine. One major tool manufacturer, DEWALT, has expanded its XR FLEXVOLT Lithiumion brushless range with the introduction of a series of high-performance cordless landscaping equipment to deal with these very issues. The range includes a brushcutter/grass trimmer, blower and chainsaw.

On the quiet

The goal of any cordless outdoor range is to offer a cleaner, more-sustainable solution with significantly lower noise levels than petrol-powered tools. The challenge for batteries has been to deliver enough power to get the job done with petrollike power, reliability, robustness and durability. That’s why the expansion of DEWALT’s XR FLEXVOLT platform into this space is so exciting. The XR FLEXVOLT battery system generates three times the power of a standard 18V battery, and, working with the efficient, integrated brushless motor, delivers unbeatable runtime, power and performance. Landscapers can now change the whole look and feel of their jobsite. It can be cleaner, greener and vary much more pleasant for tradesmen and customers alike. Best of all, the batteries are compatible with all DEWALT 18V and 54V XR FLEXVOLT tools.

Brushcutter/Grass Trimmer

A best-in-class, 38cm swath with dual twomillimetre cutting line allows this trimmer/ brushcutter to quickly and effectively tackle the heaviest clearing work. The removal of tough brambles, shrubbery and undergrowth, in addition to everyday grass trimming, is effortless. An efficient brushless motor and metal motor housing deliver 46 minutes of runtime (30 minutes on the high-speed setting), with a class-leading 162 watt-hours performance as well as an exceptionally long tool life. Operating speed is selectable and variable (0-5,100/0-5,600), and an array of accessories ensures the most effective method of cutting is employed for each job. With a total length of 1.8m and light weight of 3.6kg, the grass trimmer is flexible, wellbalanced and ergonomically designed. It’s compatible with all DEWALT XR FLEXVOLT battery packs, and is available as a 54V FLEXVOLT Line Trimmer Skin. There’s a full line of accessories available, too.

Blower

Designed for use in construction environments like area clean-up and dust-free tool maintenance, this 54V Blower also provides a powerful, flexible solution for outdoor landscaping requirements, including the clearing of leaves and stubborn garden debris. With an extremely high air speed of 193kph and airflow reaching 400CFM, the blower completes even the most demanding of jobs and avoids the hassle, fumes and vibration associated with petrol-powered models. It also features a variable-speed operation with trigger-lock function, and a special concentrator attachment increases the force of the airflow, dislodging even the most obstinate dirt. The high-efficiency brushless motor delivers up to 15 minutes runtime at 3.0Ah. With a low noise level of 67dB, the unit is the quietest and most user-friendly in its category, while the extensive overmould ensures ultimate grip and comfort, particularly during prolonged use.

Chainsaw

Completely new in the DEWALT landscaping portfolio, the chainsaw brings the power and cutting capacity of a petroldriven tool in a compact, cordless format providing extraordinary cutting power. With a class-winning 40cm Oregon bar and chain and a high-efficiency brushless motor, this tool delivers up to 65 six-inch by six-inch cuts per charge at 3.0Ah with a chain speed of 15m/s, unrivalled performance in its class. A tool-free chain, variable-speed trigger and a chain-brake function complete the efficiency-focused features.

Effective

As with all DEWALT power tools, a three-year guarantee is available. The new equipment will be available from September this year. Finally there’s a range of cordless outdoor products that will allow the pro landscaper to completely ditch the petrol products to enjoy a quieter, more flexible solution for any jobsite.
